The children of 1st Lt. Loren Hintz, Martin Hintz (left) and Gretchen Hintz-Wronka give a speech at their dad's ceremony at the Florence American Cemetery, Nov. 16, 2019 in Florence, Italy. A World War II pilot, Hintz crashed, April 21, 1945 near Bologna, Italy while on a mission protecting Army Air Force bombers. Hintz's initial partially recovered remains were buried at an American Cemetery in Florence more than 70 years ago. However, in recent years, his family undertook efforts to locate his crash site and recover the rest of his remains.
