U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) stand in formation during a memorial ceremony in Carentan, France, June 7, 2019. During the ceremony, twenty-one “Screaming Eagle” Soldiers will conduct a reenlistment ceremony, led by General Mark A. Milley, former Deputy Commanding General for the 101st Abn. Divi., and the current U.S. Army Chief of Staff. The ceremony is arranged in the same manner as a June 20, 1944 ceremony in which then Div. Commander Maj. Gen. Maxwell Taylor presented awards to Screaming Eagle Soldiers in the Carentan Town Square, after the city’s liberation.
