USS Roosevelt Sailor places flags at the Normandy American Cemetery, June 5, 2019

190605-N-HT014-1695 NORMANDY, France (June 5, 2019) Boatswain's Mate 2nd class Lucas Robinson, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) places an American flags on graves at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, June 5, 2019. The Roosevelt sailors will join more than 1,300 U.S. service members, partnered with 950 troops from across Europe and Canada to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the WWII Allied Invasion of Normandy, commonly known as D-Day. Upwards of 80 ceremonies in 40 French communities in the region will take place between June 1-9, the apex being held June 6th at the American Cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer.
