U.S. Navy Sailors salute during a ceremony in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, France

Mass Communication Specialist Chief John M. Hageman, left, together with a reenactor, render a salute during the Main Ceremony for D-Day 73 June 6, 2017, at Utah Beach in Sainte Marie Du Mont, France. This ceremony culminates commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, the largest multi-national amphibious landing and operational military airdrop in history, and highlights the U.S.' steadfast commitment to European allies and partners. Overall, approximately 400 U.S. service members from units in Europe and the U.S. participated in ceremonial D-Day events.
