Fast-roping is a tactical maneuver used to quickly insert troops into austere terrain in which a helicopter may not be able to land. The 26th MEU(SOC), embarked with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, is on a scheduled deployment as the Nation’s Immediate Response Force within the Fifth and Sixth Fleet’s areas of responsibility.
