Congratulations to the newest and sharpest submariners in the U.S. Navy who graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School (BESS) USS Rasher (SS 269) Class 20440, onboard Naval Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut, September 18, 2020. BESS prepares Sailors to pursue submarine qualifications upon initial assignment to an operational submarine. Sailors learn the basic theory behind the construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines, including ship systems, organization, and safety. Naval Submarine School builds a foundation upon which officers and enlisted personnel are prepared to develop the competence and proficiency in skills necessary to operate and maintain their submarines.
