B-roll of 84th Engineer Battalion working as part of a Construction Civic Action Detail in Majuro, Marshall Islands. The mission is being done as part of Pacific Partnership 2013. Twenty-five U.S. Soldiers are working with 15 Marshallese apprentices at the College of the Marshall Islands to build a structure and roof over the college's basketball court. The court will be used for national basketball tournaments, music and dance festivals, and as a rallying point during natural disasters. The Marshallese students learn construction techniques, measurements, and safety procedures from the American soldiers. The project is named in honor of Staff Sergeant Solomon Sam, a Marshallese who enlisted in the U.S. Army and was killed in action in Iraq in December 2008. SSG Sam was a member of the 84th Engineer Battalion. Also available in high definition.
