Michigan National Guard

Camp Grayling, the largest National Guard base in the country and host of yearly multinational, joint, live-fire exercises over an expanse of 147,000 acres of Michigan wilderness, is home to individuals whose locations are sensitive to the survival of their species.
These top-secret turtles are thriving among the vast training ranges more so than almost anywhere else in their natural range, and Camp Grayling and Purdue University is working to understand why.

His mission? To make sure Sky Soldiers across every rank know how to operate Unmanned Aerial Systems, or UAS. Yes, that’s Army-speak for “drones.”

Soldiers live fire FPV drones in Germany

Soldiers conducted a live fire of first-person view drones for the first time at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Feb. 17-20, 2025. Although drones have been incorporated into training for years, this event combined FPV drones with live munitions in a series of live fire flights, all within range safety standards. The success is a result of collaboration between U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, 7th Army Training Command, Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine and the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
