DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Army Advisors assigned to 2nd Security Forces Assistance Brigade conduct training with the Armée Nationale Mauritanienne [Mauritanian National Army], in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Running from July 24 - Aug. 22, 2024, the training brings together Mauritanian Army soldiers, U.S. Army advisors, and U.S. Army Civil Affairs soldiers from Southern European Task Force - Africa (SETAF-AF) for the first time in history to conduct a variety of training including combat casualty care, maneuver tactics, techniques, and procedures, maintenance operations, and large-scale combat operations planning.
