DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 7, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, conduct Motorized Operations Training during Integrated Training Exercise 1-25 as part of Service Level Training Exercise 1-25 at Range 113, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California, Jan. 15, 2025. MOT enhances the mobility, coordination, and effectiveness of Marine units operating across dispersed and austere environments, refining our ability to execute rapid, synchronized movements across a broad operational area. ITX enables units to mobilize geographically dispersed forces for potential future deployments, increase combat readiness and lethality, and exercise Marine Air-Ground Task Force command and control of battalions and squadrons across the full spectrum of warfare.
