DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Marines with 7th Engineer Support Battalion assigned to Marine Corps Engineer Detachment - Palau, take part in a beach cleanup with the local children on Youth Day in Peleliu, Republic of Palau, March 15, 2023. Youth Day is an important holiday that celebrates the role of youth in shaping Palau society. During this rotational deployment, Marine Corps Engineers and Navy Seabees continue to improve interoperability with the Indo-Pacific region by undertaking infrastructure projects which benefit local populations and enhance the United States’ ability to render support and aid in response to disasters or other crises.
