DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Deborah Beaver and Staff Sgt. Arryn Tyler, both assigned to the 7244th Medical Support Unit, Mount Carmel, Tennessee, explain their unit's mission at the Deployment Readiness Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas, in providing medical coverage for Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers in their pre- and post-mobilization phases. The 7244th MSU is currently serving a yearlong rotation in Fort Cavazos, Texas, from October 2022 to October 2023.
