DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

Video package consists of b-roll clips and interviews from the Berlin Airlift 75th anniversary celebration, including the opening ceremony, ceremonial flyover, airborne jump, and candy drop. The Berlin Airlift took place from July 1948 to April 1949 and served as a symbol of hope for German citizens in West Berlin. Within the video, special guests and VIPs are, in order of appearance: U.S. Army Col. David Mayfield, commander of USAG Wiesbaden; Vera Mitschrich, time witness of the Berlin Airlift; Denise Williams, daughter of the late Col. Gail S. Halvorsen, the “Candy Bomber.”
