DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Teachers, coaches, and media representatives from the Milwaukee, Twin Cities, and Oklahoma City areas participate in the week-long Educators’ Workshop at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif., June 20-21, 2024. On day three, the attendees learn about education benefits in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps history, attend a panel with new Marines, observe a water survival demonstration, and increase their confidence at the rappel tower. On day four, the educators attend a morning colors ceremony, receive their certificates of completion, and observe a recruit training graduation ceremony. EWS is designed to inform high school/college educators, community leaders, and communication professionals about the commitment and benefits of service in the U.S. Marine Corps.
