DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Carlos Ruiz, sergeant major of the Marine Corps, passes on knowledge to graduates of Class 2-25 of the Enlisted Seminar School at Warner Hall, Marine Corps Base Quantico, March 4, 2025. Graduates who recently completed the Enlisted College Distance Education Program were awarded a diploma from Sgt Maj. Ruiz after completion of their professional military educational training. Marine noncommissioned officers from 18 commands attended a 5-week course designed to add to their leadership skills and knowledge to train others in their command.
