DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District
Sept. 5, 2024 | 1:34
As part of Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week, Baltimore District is highlighting the recent tidal marsh planting efforts underway following dredge material placement at Maryland's Deal Island Wildlife Management Area, part of our maintenance of the federal navigation channel on the Wicomico River. Project manager Kevin Fenyak explains how dredge material, comprised mostly of silt and sand, is beneficially placed for wetlands restoration meant to increase migratory bird nesting habitat in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
