DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Soldiers, assigned to the 415th Civil Affairs Battalion, along with Hungarian and Czech service members, conduct civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) center scenarios during POWERFUL WORD 24 at a training area in the Czech Republic, Oct. 6, 2024. POWERFUL WORD 2024 tests and enhances multinational forces' interoperability, readiness, and proficiency in conducting CIMIC, psychological operations, and information operations capabilities to strengthen multinational interoperability.
