DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Pfc. Robert Riechman, a Marine who in fought in WWII during the battle of Guadalcanal, Bougainville and Iwo Jima, tells his story at The Madyson at Palm Beach Garden, Florida, Feb. 23, 2023. Active duty Marines with Recruiting Station Fort Lauderdale visited the nursing home to meet and honor veterans from across the different branches. The Iwo Jima Luncheon was organized by U.S. Marine Corps veterans Joe Lisi and Tom Kane, together with The Madyson staff members to honor those who answered the call of duty for the defense of our nation.
