DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

British Soldiers with the 2 Company, Irish Guards conduct air assault mission at the aerial port of debarkation in Alexandria, Louisiana, as the reconnaissance force (recce force), May 1, to support the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain (LI) during the joint force entry portion of the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Soldiers will conduct air assault missions from the APOD into the JRTC training area to simulate large-scale combat operations to build readiness to support globally deployable missions.
