WIESBADEN, Germany —
Members of Turkish Land Forces staff engaged with U.S. Army Europe and Africa staff and leadership at Lucius D. Clay Kaserne November 25 and 26 for the 10th iteration of U.S. Türkiye Staff Talks. Staff Talks are a part of a continuing efforts to maintain robust staff coordination and strengthen the close cooperation between the two key NATO Allies.
“Türkiye stands as a vital pillar within the NATO Alliance. The Turkish Land Forces play a critical role in enhancing our collective defense posture while providing superb training, logistics, and exercise opportunities.” said Brig. Gen. Andrew O. Saslav, U.S. Army Europe and Africa Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. “The Turkish Allied commitment to the shared NATO mission of deterrence and defense is demonstrated by their active role in multinational exercises and operations.”
The Turkish delegation was led by Brigadier General Kamil Tumba, Chief Defense Planning, Turkish Land Forces. The Turkish delegation met with Brig Gen. Saslav and discussed security cooperation objectives for the coming years.
Most recently, United States forces took part in the biennial, Türkiye-led and hosted exercise EFES 24 in spring of this year. EFES is of the largest and most comprehensive joint military exercises in the region.
