WIESBADEN, Germany —

Soldiers with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division will deploy from Fort Riley, Kansas, in late July 2021 in support of Atlantic Resolve.

The incoming armored rotation will replace the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and will conduct multinational training and security cooperation activities with allies and partners in Europe.

They will deploy with approximately 3,800 Soldiers, 80 tanks, 130 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, 15 Paladins, more than 500 tracked vehicles and more than 1,500 wheeled vehicles and equipment.

"The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team is honored to deploy in support of Atlantic Resolve as a regionally allocated force in Europe,” said Col. Brian E. McCarthy, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team commander. “It is a great privilege to aid in the preservation of peace by showcasing our Army's ability to project readiness across the globe. This brigade’s legacy of fighting and training alongside our European partners began in the fields of France during World War One. We are proud to uphold our dedication to a strong Europe, and once again stand with our allies and partners.”

All movements of personnel and equipment will adhere to the prevention and protection guidance directed by the Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Centers for Disease Control, our host nation governments and local authorities to proactively mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The health, safety and security of our personnel and those of our allies, partners and local populations is a priority.

The deployment of ready, combat-credible U.S. forces to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve is evidence of the strong and unremitting U.S. commitment to NATO and Europe. Through bilateral, joint and multinational training, Atlantic Resolve builds readiness, increases interoperability and enhances the bond between ally and partner militaries.
