WIESBADEN, Germany —
NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) 2020 is a German-led, Greek-hosted multinational air defense live fire exercise taking place Nov. 12-27 in Greece.
The exercise includes more than 250 personnel from four countries.
During the exercise, U.S., allied, and partner air defense forces will conduct a live fire exercise, establish a multinational surface-based air defense operations cell, utilize a combined surface-based air defense recognized air picture and display all aerial threat locations.
The exercise will enhance the combined U.S. and European ability to control defensive fires in Eastern Europe while refining tactics, techniques and procedures. The purpose of this exercise is to improve interoperability with allied and partner forces, and increase readiness through the integration of land component air and missile defense capabilities.
U.S. participating units include the 10th Army Air and Missile Command and the 678th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. Participating nations include Germany, Greece, the Netherlands and the United States.
NAMFI 2020 is a long-planned live fire exercise not tied to any current events in the region. COVID-19 precautionary measures will be taken to ensure the health and protection of participating armed forces and the local population.
