GRAFENWÖHR, Germany —
Nearly 3,500 participants from eight ally and partner nations will participate in Combined Resolve XIV at the U.S. Army’s Grafenwöhr and Hohenfels training areas Sept. 2-29.
The exercise is designed to evaluate and assess the readiness of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division’s ability to fight and win. The exercise also focuses on strengthening interoperability with multinational partners. This is the 14th iteration of this exercise.
“We are proud to be working alongside our peers, our partners, our allies in this training exercise. These units are all well led, well trained and well prepared,” said Brig. Gen. Brett Sylvia, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division (Forward).
“Training in this COVID-19 environment is important because you can’t telecommute to the battlefield, and this training gives us the opportunity to train in an environment we can’t replicate by any other means,” said Sylvia.
Upon arrival to the Hohenfels Training Area, all participants stationed outside of Germany must adhere to a mandatory 14-day restriction of movement and are tested for COVID-19 at HTA prior to execution of the exercise.
Other units participating in the Combined Resolve XIV are 1st Cavalry Division, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade; 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; 407th Civil Affairs Battalion; and the 3rd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment of the Georgia National Guard.
Participating nations include France, Italy, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine and United States.
