ZAGAN, Poland —

1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will transfer authority with 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, during a ceremony Oct. 29, at 2:00 p.m., at the Palac Ksiazecy- Ducal Palace and Park.

The ceremony officially recognizes the start of the fifth iteration of U.S. Army armored brigade combat team support to Atlantic Resolve.

The deployment of ready, combat-credible U.S. forces to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve is evidence of the strong and unremitting U.S. commitment to NATO and Europe. Through continuous, multinational training and security cooperation activities, Atlantic Resolve builds readiness, increases interoperability and enhances the bond between ally and partner militaries.

The ceremony indicates the newest unit, also known as the “Black Jack” Brigade is fully mission capable after transporting its tanks, vehicles and other equipment from its home station of Fort Hood, Texas, to Poland.

The occasion also signifies that the outgoing unit, and its more than 3,000 Soldiers, can now return home to Fort Riley, Kansas.
