GRAFENWOHR, Germany —
The exercise Saber Junction 19 will take place from 3 to 30 September 2019 at Grafenwoehr Training Area and Hohenfels Training Area.
Approximately 5,400 participants from 16 ally and partner nations are participating in the exercise; including members of the U.S. Army’s 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC). The exercise will primarily take place on the Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas with a small portion taking place on Ramstein Air Base. The exercise is designed to evaluate and asses the readiness of the brigade to execute unified land operations in a joint, combined environment and to promote interoperability with participating allied and partner nations.
The highlight of the exercise features a large, multi-national airborne jump at the Hohenfels Training Area scheduled for 18 September 2019. In addition to U.S. Forces, the jump is currently scheduled to include forces from Italy and Turkey. The airborne jump has been designated as Saber Junction 19’s media day.
Nation participation ranges from observers to service members including representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
Saber Junction 19 will provide an intense, realistic environment that takes advantage of U.S. Army Europe and 7th Army Training Command’s unique training resources to
seamlessly coordinate fires in support of U.S. and allied operations.
