‘I want to be part of the solution’: US Army Europe and Africa leaders demonstrate COVID-19 vaccination safety, necessity
Members of U.S. Army Europe and Africa senior staff, including Gen. Christopher Cavoli, commanding general; Maj. Gen. Joe Jarrard, acting deputy commanding general; and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert V. Abernethy received their first rounds of the COVID-19 vaccinations at the Wiesbaden Army Health Clinic yesterday.

Italian local national employee for 36 years is witness to mission growth
The Army Prepositioned Stock -2 site at Leghorn Army Depot in Livorno, Italy provides 630,000 square feet of humidity controlled capable space in 15 warehouses and another 587,000 square feet of outside storage. Army Field Support Battalion-Africa, 405th Army Field Support Brigade, is responsible for the site and the more than 3,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment stored there.

KFOR Soldier trains unit recovery team
Unit recovery teams are responsible for recovering the remains of RC-E multinational and U.S. Soldiers in the event of their death.
Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Wells, mortuary affairs noncommissioned officer in charge, Regional Command-East, Kosovo Force, trained a unit recovery team on mortuary affairs at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo on Jan. 6, 2021.

Commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa visit to Finland
The Commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, General Christopher G. Cavoli visited Finland 10- 12 January.
General Cavoli familiarised himself with Army Arctic training in the Jaeger Brigade in Sodankylä and observed a live-fire exercise at the Rovajärvi training area. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Petri Hulkko.

U.S. Army Health Center Vicenza administers the COVID-19 vaccine to front-line healthcare workers and first responders January 8, 2021 in Vicenza, Italy. The USAHC-V staff worked long weeks and hours to ensure proper preparation, delivery and execution were in place for this historical moment for the garrison.

New volunteer management website eases contribution tracking
The U.S. Army Garrison Italy Army Community Service (ACS) just announced the launch of an updated Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS).
With the new updates the VMIS system will move to a more modern, cloud-based, and user-friendly environment for staff and volunteers.

A mixture of U.S. Army Soldiers and civilians plus a robust local national labor force from places like Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy – the 405th AFSB optimizes its strength through diversity with a “people first” mentality that has proven successful time and again.
