African Lion
African Lion, the largest annual military exercise in Africa, led by U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM). From April 14 to May 23, 2025, more than 10,000 troops from 41 nations — including 7 NATO allies — will train together across Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. AL25 sharpens lethality, strengthens readiness, and restores the warrior ethos through complex, multi-domain operations alongside African partners and allies.

The U.S. Air Force 86th Airlift Wing, based in Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and the Tunisian Armed Forces conduct aeromedical evacuation training at El Aouina Air Base, Tunisia, April 26, 2025, as part of African Lion 25 (AL25). AL25 is set to be the largest annual military exercise in Africa, bringing together over 40 nations, including seven NATO allies and 10,000 troops to conduct realistic, dynamic and collaborative training in an austere environment that intersects multiple geographic and functional combatant commands. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) on behalf of the U.S. Africa Command, AL25 takes place from April 14 to May 23, 2025, across Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. This large-scale exercise will enhance our ability to work together in complex, multi-domain operations—preparing forces to deploy, fight and win.

Lithuania hosted a departure ceremony to honor four U.S. soldiers that lost their lives in a training incident near Pabradè, Lithuania. U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 95th Combat Sustainment Battalion began their joint annual training exercise, Operation Clydesdale Thunder at Baumholder, Germany.
LOGCAP provides base life support to Flintlock 25, African Lion 25 exercises
The 405th Army Field Support Brigade’s Logistics Civil Augmentation Program is simultaneously supporting two exercises on the continent of Africa this month. LOGCAP is providing over two dozen base life support services to U.S. servicemembers and nearly 40 partner nations participating in Flintlock 25 in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and over a dozen base life support services to U.S. servicemembers and about 20 partner nations participating in African Lion 25 in Tunisia.

Soldiers live fire FPV drones in Germany
Soldiers conducted a live fire of first-person view drones for the first time at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Feb. 17-20, 2025. Although drones have been incorporated into training for years, this event combined FPV drones with live munitions in a series of live fire flights, all within range safety standards. The success is a result of collaboration between U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, 7th Army Training Command, Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine and the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
