WIESBADEN, Germany —

Soldiers from the U.S. Army will commemorate the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands, September 12-22, 2025, in the Netherlands. Approximately 80 Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and the 82nd Airborne Division, alongside approximately 300 troops from Allies and partners, will honor the service and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation by participating in more than 25 ceremonies and events in the Dutch provinces of Limburg, Brabant, and Gelderland.

“The 81st anniversary of Market Garden serves as a powerful reminder of the unwavering bond between our European Allies and partners,” said Brig. Gen. Andrew Cecil, USAREUR-AF Deputy Commander for Mobilization and Reserve Affairs. “By honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who fought, we acknowledge the foundation they built for the NATO Alliance, from Mesch to the Waal River.”

As the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands commences, America remains forever indebted to fallen Soldiers and the veterans who demonstrated the selfless service and sacrifice that characterizes the Greatest Generation in defending global peace and security. Together with our Allies, the United States continues to support the fight for freedom of others when our shared democratic values are under threat elsewhere in the world.

The Dutch are scheduled to commemorate the liberation of their country throughout the coming year, with ceremonies, parades, reenactments, and educational programs. These activities honor the bravery of both the Soldiers and the civilians involved.
