Interview with U.S. Army 1st Lt Donovan Hinton, a medical platoon leader, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, speaks about winning the 2025 Europe Best Medic Competition, held Dec. 9 - Dec. 12, 2025, at Landstuhl, Baumholder, and Rhine Ordinance Barracks, Kaiserslautern, Germany hosted by Medical Readiness Command, Europe (MRC, EUR). MRC, EUR conducted the 2025 Europe Best Medic Competition in honor of U.S. Army Cpl. Alfred L. Wilson to test the competencies, skills, and readiness of medics in MRC, EUR as well as medics in the United States Army Europe-Africa (USAREUR-AF) area of operations.

U.S. Army Holds Competition to Determine Best Drone Warfighters in European Theater

Ten teams competed in the first U.S. Army Europe and Africa's Best Drone Warfighter Competition at 7th Army Training Command’s Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Dec. 8-10, 2025.
7th ATC hosted this multinational competition to test and showcase unmanned aerial system operator capabilities, and serve as a visible culmination of experimentation, readiness and transformational warfighting initiatives to ensure participating U.S., Allied and Partner Soldiers are trained, tested and ready to deploy modern UAS capabilities in complex operational environments. The U.S. team who scored the highest in the USAREUR-AF competition is moving forward to compete in the U.S. Army's first BDWC in February 2026.

USAREUR-AF Best Drone Warfighter Competition

The U.S. Army Europe and Africa Best Drone Warfighter Competition is taking place from Dec. 8-10, 2025 in the Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany. The competition assesses unmanned aerial systems operator capabilities from the U.S., United Kingdom, Spain and Italy, and reinforces the U.S. Army's commitment to innovation and readiness, and builds esprit des corps and camaraderie.

NATO Forward Land Forces Expansion

52d Air Defense Artillery Brigade and the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command brought together air defenders, Army procurement staff, and commercial vendors specializing in counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems technology for a unique military and civilian event - Project FlyTrap.

This military activity adds additional assets from Allies and better connects those already available all along the Alliance’s eastern flank. It adds flexibility, strength and responsiveness.

Are you ready for the European Entry/Exit System?

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders. EES will capture biometric data, such as fingerprints, facial image, and other travel information, gradually replacing the current system of passport stamping.

Michael Whiteside, and Sgt. 1st Class Crage Notice, all assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, discuss modern counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) technology and the testing of the devices during Project Flytrap at Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels Training Area, Hohenfels, Germany, June 22, 2025. The Soldiers completed a three-week training mission which included learning about different C-UAS technology, learning how to use the C-UAS technology, and then implementing the devices into simulated combat scenarios.
