Video highlighting the evolution of vertical envelopment—from paratroopers in World War II, to UH-1 Iroquois helicopters in Vietnam, to Air Assault operations in Desert Storm, and finally to today’s Large Scale, Long Range Air Assaults capable of moving a brigade’s combat power more than 500 miles in a single period of darkness. Looking ahead, the future of Air Assault will incorporate drones to disrupt and destroy enemy positions and capabilities, enabling the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to infiltrate and engage the enemy with even greater effectiveness.
