Landing Signal Officers: Last Bastion of Safety
Defense Media Activity - Navy Production
Feb. 15, 2023 | 2:11
Landing Signal Officers ensure that the last seconds before touchdown down on a Carrier runway are safe. They have to know the totality of the aircraft inside and out, and get inside the mind of the pilot operating it.
At the U.S. Navy LSO School, Officers are trained for operation in the fleet. In a mixture of both classroom and simulator training, they learn what can go wrong at every step of the process, and how to prevent it.
