As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, we reflect on the rich history and legacy of service, sacrifice and dedication. From the Revolutionary War to present-day missions, our Soldiers have consistently demonstrated their resolve to defend freedom at home and abroad.
U.S. Army and Europe and Africa is excited to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday by highlighting the Heroes of Two Nations.
The U.S. Army, and the United States of America, may not exist as we know it today without the help of significant heroes who hailed from different countries and volunteered to assist our determination of independence during the Revolutionary War.
In coming months leading up to the Army’s Birthday (June 14), we will highlight the contributions from the following key figures: Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben; Johann von Robais, Baron de Kalb; Marquis de Lafayette; Louis Lebègue Duportail; Casimir Pulaski; Tadeusz Kościuszko; Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau; George Farragut; Michael Kováts de Fabriczy; Hans Christian Febiger; Hans Axel von Fersen; Michel Dragon; and Filippo Mazzei.
Though not exclusive to just these 13 men, but their actions and sacrifices helped shape our nation as we know it - they are Heroes of Two Nations, and This We’ll Defend.
