DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

Sept. 26, 2024 | 0:18
The Montana National Guard, in conjunction with the Personnel Recovery Proponent Office, hosted the first iteration of Mountain Regions Survival SERE B (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) class on Sept. 9-13 at Fort Harrison, Mont. This class included learning basic survival skills such as fire and shelter building to aid soldiers in survival situations.

While most Montanans have great outdoor survival skills, these soldiers will be able to take lessons learned back to their units and civilian lives.
