Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton
July 22, 2016 | 0:52
A brush fire which began on Thursday afternoon at range 409A in the northeastern portion of the base has burned 800 acres aboard Camp Pendleton as of this evening.

Working as part of a Unified Command, Camp Pendleton Fire Department and CALFIRE conducted aerial and ground firefighting operations at the northern end of base through the night with the fire currently contained at 35 percent. Since winds are blowing in a northerly direction, the fire is not posing threats to structures or personnel.

Approximately 500 personnel in the unified command have used a variety of methods to fight the fire to include strike teams, dozers, aircraft and brush trucks.
