WEBVTT 00:00.009 --> 00:01.787 Hi , my name is Specialist Carl 00:01.787 --> 00:03.676 Cleveland . I'm from 11 CAV . I'm 00:03.676 --> 00:05.676 currently competing in the European 00:05.676 --> 00:07.787 best Medic competition with my battle 00:07.787 --> 00:09.953 buddy , Specialist Connor Nazi . We're 00:09.953 --> 00:09.680 both really enjoying being out here 00:09.689 --> 00:11.633 right now . What drives me to be a 00:11.633 --> 00:13.800 better medic is to help out the troops 00:13.800 --> 00:16.270 to create a better bond with them and 00:16.280 --> 00:17.724 to just have that kind of 00:17.724 --> 00:19.891 interconnected link with individuals . 00:19.891 --> 00:22.113 Being a medic means I get to help other 00:22.113 --> 00:22.030 people out . I get to see them at the 00:22.040 --> 00:24.110 worst times in their life and being 00:24.120 --> 00:26.120 able to help people when they're in 00:26.120 --> 00:28.287 those crappy situations means a lot to 00:28.287 --> 00:30.398 me . So finishing this competition to 00:30.398 --> 00:32.680 us just means that we are some of the 00:32.689 --> 00:35.229 best medics and that if other people 00:35.240 --> 00:37.129 see that , then they will be more 00:37.129 --> 00:39.351 confident in both our skills and we can 00:39.351 --> 00:41.462 have the confidence in our own skills 00:41.462 --> 00:43.573 that we can get the job done . And so 00:43.573 --> 00:45.629 if people see that , then they think 00:45.629 --> 00:45.209 that hey , these individuals know what 00:45.220 --> 00:47.331 they're doing , they're willing to go 00:47.331 --> 00:49.331 through the to prove that . So then 00:49.331 --> 00:51.442 they can kind of have that confidence 00:51.442 --> 00:53.664 in us . So the competition really takes 00:53.664 --> 00:55.776 the worst situations that you'll find 00:55.776 --> 00:57.664 yourself as a combat medic in and 00:57.664 --> 00:59.720 throws you into those situations and 00:59.720 --> 01:01.942 makes them a little bit worse by having 01:01.942 --> 01:01.729 to carry water cans , two or three 01:01.740 --> 01:03.907 clicks away and then having to carry a 01:03.907 --> 01:06.129 casualty up a hill another three or 400 01:06.129 --> 01:08.351 m and carrying them right back to an FL 01:08.351 --> 01:10.073 A . It really just takes those 01:10.073 --> 01:12.129 challenges and encompasses them into 01:12.129 --> 01:14.184 this one competition . Being able to 01:14.184 --> 01:16.296 say that we partook in Europeans best 01:16.296 --> 01:18.518 meta competition while we were out here 01:18.518 --> 01:20.462 is just an amazing opportunity and 01:20.462 --> 01:22.629 getting to be through the , proving to 01:22.629 --> 01:22.330 ourselves that we can get through this 01:22.339 --> 01:24.506 competition and just seeing it through 01:24.506 --> 01:26.617 to the end is kind of one of the main 01:26.617 --> 01:28.672 reasons why we decided to do it . Uh 01:28.672 --> 01:30.895 One of the key takeaways for us is just 01:30.895 --> 01:32.950 being able to prove to our unit that 01:32.950 --> 01:34.895 we're an asset to them that we are 01:34.895 --> 01:37.117 better medics and that we are important 01:37.117 --> 01:39.699 to our troops themselves , our unit and 01:39.709 --> 01:41.709 kind of our brigade as a whole . So 01:41.709 --> 01:43.820 that way we can have other people who 01:43.820 --> 01:45.987 might want to come to this competition 01:45.987 --> 01:48.209 or even just trying to be better medics 01:48.209 --> 01:50.265 so that they can kind of stand up on 01:50.265 --> 01:52.487 their own 2 ft . I want to shout out to 01:52.487 --> 01:52.300 my family , you know , I want to say 01:52.309 --> 01:54.476 Merry Christmas to them . I don't want 01:54.476 --> 01:56.698 to thank them for telling me that I can 01:56.698 --> 01:58.587 do this competition and that I am 01:58.587 --> 02:00.698 worthy of this competition , that I'm 02:00.698 --> 02:02.865 going to be one of the best medics out 02:02.865 --> 02:02.650 there and I'm going to come in first 02:02.660 --> 02:03.220 place .
