Romania hosted U.S. Marines with Black Sea Rotational Force and Bulgarian soldiers for the two-week exercise, Platinum Eagle at Babadag Training Area, May 19-29. The final assault for the exercise involved a U.S. Marine Corps mounted force from 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, currently deployed with Black Sea Rotational Force with a Combined Anti-Armor Platoon in HMMWVs and a Romanian Mechanized Infantry Platoon in BTR-70s.
