U.S. Army Maj. Benjie Hall (Ret.), an innovation engineer with the Civil Military Innovation Institute, discusses the Design, Innovation, Research and Testing (DIRT) Lab’s mission to empower Soldier-led innovation at Grafenwoehr, Germany, July 10, 2026. The DIRT Lab provides Soldiers with funding, expertise and equipment, including 3D printing, metalworking and electronics, to rapidly develop, test and refine solutions to tactical challenges.
