U.S. Army Col. Al Boyer (left), commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. James Manning, 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division, render salutes to the memorial dedicated to Kenneth Moore and Robert Wright June 3, 2017, in Angoville-au-Plain, France. As medics, Moore and Wright provided medical care to 80 combatants, both allies and enemies, and one child at the Angoville-au-Plain church in June 1944. This ceremony commemorates the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, the largest multi-national amphibious landing and operational military airdrop in history, and highlights the U.S.' steadfast commitment to European allies and partners. Overall, approximately 400 U.S. service members from units in Europe and the U.S. are participating in ceremonial D-Day events from May 31 to June 7, 2017.
