DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

U.S. Soldiers assigned to the Mountain Training Group, 10th Mountain Division demonstrated basic rappel system techniques to Soldiers assigned to 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Bohinjska, Slovenia, Sept 28, 2024. This training was held in order for 3BCT Soldiers to further hone their mountaineering skills for the upcoming exercise, Triglav Star 24, a multinational NATO military exercise where approximately eight nations have the opportunity to train together to enhance their mountain warfare techniques.
