DEFENDER is the Army’s largest annual opportunity to exercise moving personnel and equipment into theater across modes for initial and follow-on operations critical to Large Scale Combat Operations. Led by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, the exercise focuses on the strategic deployment of CONUS-based forces, employment of Army Prepositioned Stock and follow-on exercises demonstrating lethality and interoperability with Allies and partners

Aircrew members from the West Virginia and Kentucky Air National Guard move equipment during joint exercise SENTRY STORM at Camp Branch, Logan County, West Virginia, April 15, 2024. Sentry Storm is a military exercise that trains Airmen and Soldiers for a range of operations. The focus of the 2024 exercise will be on Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concepts. The goal is to deploy, disperse, and maneuver combat capabilities throughout a theater. By participating in these exercises, individuals can sharpen their skills to perform well in austere environments and against near-peer competitors.
