Press Release – US Army equipment to arrive in multiple ports for Atlantic Resolve rotation

Nov. 18, 2022

WIESBADEN, Germany —

More than 2,400 equipment items from the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division, 2d Armored Brigade Combat Team, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, will off-load at port facilities located in Alexandroupoli, Greece, Thessaloniki, Greece, and Gdynia, Poland, throughout the November 18-30, 2022 timeframe.

During this period, U.S. Army equipment will stage at the port facilities and subsequently move via rail and commercial trucking to follow-on locations in central and Eastern Europe. As a result, communities in the vicinity of these facilities are likely to see an increase in U.S. Army equipment as it transits to its final destinations. The U.S. Army closely coordinates its equipment movement with our host-nation allies and partners to ensure our transportation operations are conducted safely and with minimal impact on the local community.

The 2d ABCT is arriving in Europe for a regularly scheduled rotational deployment in support of Atlantic Resolve. Since April 2014, U.S. Army Europe and Africa has led the Department of Defense’s Atlantic Resolve land efforts by bringing units based in the U.S. to Europe. The deployment of ready, combat-credible U.S. forces to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve is evidence of the strong and unremitting U.S. commitment to NATO and Europe. Through bilateral, joint and multinational training, Atlantic Resolve builds readiness, increases interoperability and enhances the bond between ally and partner militaries.
